چکیده

Objective: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the Microvessel density(MVD) recognized by Endoglin (CD105) expression in invasive ductal carcinomas (IDC) and precancerous lesions patients including ductal carcinoma in situ(DCIS) and atypical ductal hyperplasia(ADH), as well as to analyze the relationship between the MVD recognized by Endoglin expression with other stan prognostic parameters, such as size, grade, stage of the disease, metastases, and tumour recurrence. Methods: We analyzed the MVD recognized by CD105 and CD105 expression in IDC (n=128), DCIS (n=89) and ADH (n=57). Fifty-three cases of usual ductal hyperplasia (UDH) breast tissues were selected as a control group. Results were correlated with survival and other standard prognostic parameters, such as size, grade, stage of the disease, metastases, and patient survival. Results: The MVD based on CDl05 expression had statistical significance in IDC, DCIS, ADH and UDH groups, MVD the peripheral area adjacent to the lesion was significantly higher than those central area within the lesion in every group(P< 0.01 for each group). Conclusions: The MVD recognized by Endoglin might be important biological markers for invasion, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis and tumour recurrence of IDC. The over-expression of endoglin expression may be useful as an indicator of breast cancer progression and helpful for estimation of recurrence and metastasis risk.

Role of endoglin and VEGF family expression in colorectal cancer prognosis and anti-angiogenic therapies.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the cancer models and most of the carcinogenic steps are presently well understood. Therefore, successful preventive measures are currently used in medical practice. However, CRC is still an important public health problem as it is the third most common cancer and the fourth most frequent cause of cancer death worldwide. Nowadays, pathologic stage is a unique a...

Endoglin (CD105) and microvessel density in oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Recent studies revealed that CD105 is intensively expressed in tumor vasculature, and may be an important prognostic indicator for the outcome in a number of malignancies. The aim of our study was to evaluate the CD105 expression and microvessel density in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Nineteen surgical specimens with OSCC were immunohistochemical analyzed with CD105 (Endoglin). We deter...

Endoglin is a better marker than CD31 in evaluation of angiogenesis in glioblastoma.

AIM To compare endoglin (CD105) and the pan-endothelial marker CD31 in the assessment of angiogenesis in glioblastoma and to evaluate their values in the prognosis of this malignancy. METHODS Forty-six cases of glioblastoma were included in this retrospective study. All cases were immunohistochemically stained for endoglin (CD105), CD31, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and MIB-1 (K...

Microvessel density assessment in benign and malignant endometrial changes.

Tumor angiogenesis is believed to be a prognostic indicator associated with tumor growth and metastasis. Microvessel density (MVD) assessment with common endothelial markers such as CD34 has been found to influence prognosis among endometrial carcinoma patients. The CD105/endoglin antibody has been reported to preferentially bind to proliferated endothelial cells in tissues participating in ang...

Comparison of Microvessel Density with Prognostic Factors in Invasive Ductal Carcinomas of the Breast.

OBJECTIVE Angiogenesis plays a key role in tumor growth and metastasis. Determination of microvessel density is the most common technique used to evaluate the amount of the intratumoral angiogenesis in breast cancer. We have aimed to investigate the relationship with tumor angiogenesis and prognostic parameters in breast invasive ductal carcinomas. MATERIAL AND METHOD In this study, a total o...
